Six Hundred and Four Kind Eyes
In history, Bulgaria was actually pro-Germany and pro-Turkey, but in this life Germany sold Bulgaria to Turkey and Romania for its own benefit. Who told Germany to take so much oil in Romania? In the end, the territory can only be exchanged for these resources.
In fact, according to the current popular saying, the Bulgarian government is actually the so-called lying guns. In the end, they can only cede the territory to Turkey and give up the minority areas in the north to the Romanians. The end result is that the remaining territory of Bulgaria can be self-governing, existing as an independent region surrounded by several countries.
When German tanks and armored vehicles entered Croatia, they were warmly welcomed by the locals. These German soldiers were obviously a little overwhelmed, and didn't even know how to deal with such a warm scene-hordes of invaders. The resistance prepared bombs, cannons, and hundreds of planes, but they were greeted with applause and cheers from countless citizens.
"I can't believe my eyes, dear mother." A German soldier wrote to his mother in a letter: "When I swore an oath to the national flag, I made up my mind, even if the head of state asked me to I will try my best to do anything inhumane for Germany - now this kind of worry is completely unnecessary, I know that I am doing the right thing, I came here, the locals welcome me, Throwing flowers at me, girls smiling at me, for God's sake, I'm a hero here."
Another real event happened the day after the Germans occupied all of Croatia. What happened was quite unbelievable: several British lurkers who intended to attack the German army hid in the house to make explosives, and contacted the logistics transport troops preparing to ambush the German army. It was so secretive that they seldom stepped out of their house, so no one ever discovered what they were thinking.
However, when the British lurkers went out to eat, a thief visited the empty house. He saw the bombs and submachine guns in the house, so he left the house without moving anything. The local Croatian thief quickly found the German occupying forces and returned to the house with 70 heavily armed German soldiers.
Most of the desperate British lurkers were finally killed in a fierce gun battle, and the rest knew that they would die, so they detonated the explosives and chose to commit suicide to reduce their pain. It is estimated that when they died, they would not have thought that the person who betrayed them was a local or a thief.
Of course, the battle broke out when the German army went south. The resistance of the Yugoslavs was very tenacious. Although they had lost a lot of weapons and equipment in the fight with the Italian army, they still bravely fought against the German army for their hometown. Armored units attacked.
They hurriedly organized the defense line, dug trenches and reinforced some machine gun bunkers, but when the magnificent body of the Leopard tank appeared on the battlefield, the Yugoslavs still retreated. They are no longer facing the Italians who are powerful but chaotic,
It was the well-organized and perfectly coordinated German troops. The Stuka bombers that fell from the sky even dared to drop bombs tens of meters in front of the German troops. This terrible attack coordination was beyond the reach of the Yugoslav army.
In the sky, above the clouds, a Stuka swooped down, followed by a second and a third, and finally ten or even twenty. These slightly outdated aircraft have rejuvenated themselves in the backward land of the Balkans. Here they approach ground targets recklessly, using the most accurate throwing methods to destroy everything they see. Yugoslav ground anti-aircraft fire was weak and scattered, unable to affect the combat operations of German aircraft in the slightest.
Instead of a friendly welcoming ceremony, there are fleeing civilians crowded on both sides of the road. They watched the German armored tanks whizzing by with terrified eyes, kicking up dust all over the sky. The first thing that appeared in front of people's eyes was the wheeled armored reconnaissance vehicles of the German armored forces, which were the vanguard of the German tank forces. These armored vehicles were accompanied by sidecar motorcycles one after another, as well as trucks full of grenadiers and T-26 tanks covering these trucks. These troops did not stop at all to control the civilians on both sides of the road. They rushed forward in a hurry, chasing the defeated Yugoslav regular army.
"Hey! Does anyone understand German?" An open bucket truck stopped by the side of the road. A German captain stood up and asked the terrified Yugoslav refugees on the side.
No one answered him, and everyone looked at the German who stood up and shouted to them with indifferent eyes. Someone saw the German guard on the co-pilot holding an assault rifle, and the few civilians who were afraid that the German army would suddenly violently kill people took two steps back towards the crowd involuntarily.
"Does anyone know how to get to the next town, that is, the town with a bridge?" The German police officer seemed not to give up, and shouted this sentence again. It looked like his efforts were still in vain, as no one answered his question yet.
"Damn it! None of these people can speak German." Not all invasions can be well prepared. The long-term cooperation between the German army and the Soviet Union has resulted in quite a few people in the German army who can speak Russian. At the same time, because the European region is actually not vast, French and English are relatively popular languages. And because of the rise of Germany, there are many people who can speak German.
This gave the German aggression a certain cultural basis: Germans can speak a lot of foreign languages, they can guarantee that each unit is equipped with qualified translators, some well-planned attacks, and even language preparations have been completed. It has spread to the level of platoon or even class. But obviously not many Germans can speak Serbian, at least not many in this German armored force.
The German captain finally gave up on the inquiry, came from behind and parked on an armored vehicle next to him. A commander took off his earphones and was waiting for the captain to give him new orders. He turned his head to look at the driver, and said, "These people are obviously unwilling to cooperate with our actions. We have no choice but to find a place for ourselves."
"Captain, I will search east for 7 kilometers, and then continue south." The commander of the armored vehicle nodded and replied: "Until I see the river, then I will return west along the river. If the target town is found, I will All nearby troops will be notified."
"Okay! I'll continue along the highway! Maybe I can find something!" The captain reluctantly agreed with the captain's plan. The commander made a casual traditional military salute, then patted the iron sheet of the turret, and issued an order by pressing the throat communicator: "Turn left and search east."
The armored vehicle spewed out black exhaust gas, which diffused in front of everyone. The quality of gasoline in Germany has not been very high. After all, Germany is still a country that lacks oil reserves, so everything should be used sparingly. Even the tank unit, regarded as the trump card by the German high-level, had to make do with gasoline engines due to lack of oil, let alone the reconnaissance unit attached to the armored unit.
The German barrel truck also started. With the roar of the engine, the two German vehicles parted ways. One car continued to drive south along the road, while the other armored vehicle drove off the road and walked along another dirt road towards the far away.
"These Germans are more polite than our own troops." A woman with a package on her back mumbled as she looked at the German vehicles going away. This group of refugees was robbed by a Yugoslav army not long ago. They handed over their property and a lot of food before driving away the defeated Yugoslav army.
"Shut up!" An elderly man snorted, "These people are invaders no matter what! We can't have anything to do with them! Let's continue on our way, just don't cause trouble! Do you understand?"
In fact, there are people in this team who understand German, and this old man can speak some German, but they are unwilling to cooperate with the German team, so they pretended not to understand German, and based on the principle that more things are worse than less things, they did not strike up a conversation . During the war, there were not many people who stood up to fight to the death, and those who surrendered to the enemy and treason were also a minority. Many ordinary people actually lived a life similar to that of peace. The only difference is that some of these ordinary people fled to escape the flames of war. , some became subjugated because their homeland was hard to leave.
They will not choose to support the intruders, or even cause trouble for these intruders within their ability - they are not active in their work and live in a daze all day long. But if they are really asked to take up arms to resist, they absolutely dare not. They have their own lives, and as long as the peace is not broken, they will linger on. This is not unpatriotic, but the inevitable trajectory of an ordinary life.
It is cruel oppression that prompts the common people to really take the road of resistance. Akado knew this deeply through the experience of later generations, so he tried his best to avoid oppression. If he had to do so, he chose to divide and oppress a small number of people. He gave hope to most people, so most people choose to live in peace. Resistance must exist, but it is compressed in a small range that can be tolerated.
So in the Balkans, the Germans took out this theory again, handed over the difficult stubborn elements to the Italians, and dressed themselves up as a nice old man, making the locals think that the Germans are the saviors and leaders. They are liberators from the sea of misery.
The liberator was kind-hearted, very gentlemanly and polite, if he didn't have a gun on his back, a grenade on his chest, and a bayonet in his waist... then the effect would be even better.
