Chapter 294 Eye Contact
"Ding dong——"
The familiar bell rang again, and the elevator door opened silently.
Bright light poured in from outside. Wade subconsciously squinted his eyes, and then he saw a magnificent hall.
Long crimson curtains hang down, large and small portraits hang on the walls, and strange magical creature statues open their mouths, yawn or wag their tails from time to time, just like real animals.
Shelves and bookcases are stocked with magical objects such as crystal balls, looking glasses or enchanted tea sets. In a transparent glass jar, there is a streamer slowly spinning and dancing.
The long table was filled with desserts and drinks for everyone to take as they pleased, many of which Vader had never seen before, and some even glowed.
But there were not many people in the hall, only about twenty or thirty, and about one-third of them were brought here by elders or teachers like Wade.
But at such a young age, he is the only one.
Wade knew that the people who appeared here today were all alchemists.
The alchemists may not look like anything special at ordinary times, but when they get together, their distinctive temperament becomes particularly obvious.
Different from ordinary wizards and ordinary Muggles, he has the temperament of a scholar of occultism and science. Even if he is among the lively crowd, he seems to be immersed in his own world.
Compared with them, Professor Murray is quite "down-to-earth".
After the two entered the door, someone quickly came over to say hello to Professor Murray.
"You're here too, Murray."
A tall, brown-haired wizard came over and said.
"Long time no see, Orlando." Professor Murray said: "That guy Gur claimed that he found the notes left by the ancient wizard. Of course I want to come and take a look."
"I want to see the magic mirror that is said to be able to communicate with the dead." The brown-haired wizard said: "Except for the legendary resurrection stone, I have never seen a magic item that can break through the barrier of life and death!"
"Sounds like a bluff."
"I know...but what if? Gul isn't just talking nonsense, is he?"
After the brown-haired wizard finished speaking, he turned to Vader.
"Murray, this child is-"
Wade bowed slightly and saluted.
"My student, Wade Gray." Professor Murray coughed and said casually, "You must have heard of his name."
"Of course - of course -" Orlando's eyes widened in surprise: "I didn't expect... he was really so... so young... it's so surprising..."
He held out his hand solemnly: "Hello, young Mr. Grey."
"Hello, Mr. Orlando, I have read many of your papers." Wade said respectfully.
Orlando's expression obviously pleased Professor Murray. He pressed his raised lips and said with a reserved smile:
"Yes, he is only in the third grade this year, but he has already invented the Book of Friends and the Golem Pet, oh, and the recently popular Flow Mirror."
"I know, I bought them all." Orlando looked at Vader thoughtfully and suddenly said: "Dear Vader, do you want to come to Beauxbatons to go to school? We have the most beautiful girl in France in our school, Nick. Mr. Flamel is also the director of our school."
Professor Murray's expression changed and he said in a bad tone: "Hi, Orlando! Did you forget that I'm still here?"
"What does it matter? You can come too. You don't have many classes at Hogwarts anyway."
Orlando responded casually, then turned to Wade: "Of course, if you are tired of Mori's teaching style, I can also teach you different alchemy techniques."
"Thank you." Wade said dumbfounded: "Hogwarts is very good. I have no plans to transfer to another school for the time being."
"Then, if you change your mind, you can contact me at any time. Even if you don't transfer to another school, you can just visit."
Orlando pulled out a friend's book and handed it to Wade.
Vader naturally accepted it.
The bell at the door rang again, and another alchemist walked in. When the elevator door opened and closed, Wade saw that the girl who was greeting guests in the foyer was also inside.
He was a little surprised.
When he and Professor Murray came up just now, the girl just pressed the button for help and then waited outside the elevator and did not go up or down with him.
Soon, the elevator door closed. Just before it closed, the girl raised her eyes and happened to meet Wade's gaze again.
This time, there was no shyness or curiosity in her eyes, only silence.
"Professor." Wade asked softly: "When you participated in the exhibition in the past, were you also in this place?"
"Huh? Of course not. Gur always likes to randomly choose places he thinks are interesting." Professor Murray said: "Sometimes on a cruise ship, sometimes in an amusement park, and once in a cemetery."
"Then...have you seen that girl upstairs before?" Wade asked again.
"No, he's probably an employee of Gur, right?" Professor Murray said: "He likes to hire a few squibs or wizards with low magic power to serve as waiters."
Wade touched the pencil case hanging on his waist and said nothing more.
Suddenly there was a tinkling sound in the hall, as if raindrops were splashing on the bluestone.
Immediately afterwards, all the statues spurted out golden sparks, fell on the open space, and ignited a raging fire. Then, a wizard in red robes walked out of the fire with a cane.
"It's just a freezing fire spell!" Professor Murray said disdainfully: "Gull still likes to show off."
The red-robed wizard Gur opened his arms and said loudly: "Welcome! Welcome everyone to come to my exhibition. What is on display this time are all ancient and powerful magic items that I have carefully selected. If anyone wants to study or collect them , welcome to contact me after the exhibition! ”
"Stop talking nonsense!" A bald old wizard said impatiently: "Let's get to the point!"
The alchemists around him nodded.
"……All right."
Gul silently put down his speech, which was at least two feet long, and slammed his cane on the ground.
"Boom!"
Invisible fluctuations spread out, and the floor under your feet seemed to be undulating with it. Immediately afterwards, seven stone platforms rose up all around, each with a magic item placed on it and covered with a transparent magic barrier.
Everyone selected the items they liked and gathered around.
Wade also followed and looked around——
A teapot with strange patterns, a wooden carved bronze mirror, an old notebook, a slate with ancient writings on it, a sword without a scabbard, a gold necklace, and a wreath of thorns.
Wade's expression turned strange.
He turned on his second vision, and thought he could see mysterious magic patterns, incomplete and mysterious magic circles, magic containing time, and the echo of magic lost in ancient times.
But no.
Nothing.
Those items that seemed full of mystery seemed so monotonous and pale in his field of vision.
