Chapter 251 The King's Obsession with Gems
Legolas took Thorin, Aaron and Bilbo out of the cell and took them to see his father, Thranduil, the King of the Woodlands.
In front of the throne, Thorin stood expressionless.
Aaron and Bilbo kept winking at him, trying to make him realize the situation, but he turned a blind eye.
Thranduil slowly stood up. He had long silver hair and was as handsome as other elves, but there was a hint of indifference in his eyes.
"Some people think this will be a sacred journey, to kill the dragon and take back their home.
But I suspect the real motive is not so noble, stealing treasure, or some other intention.
You found the secret passage and tried to find the jewel that gave you the right to rule, the King's Stone, the Arken Stone."
Thorin's face changed slightly, but he quickly adjusted.
"So, the Arkenstone is what you want us to find?" Aaron said thoughtfully, "We are not looking for a gem, but a throne!"
"Yes, with that gem, plus Durin's bloodline, maybe we can really unite the power of the dwarf tribe." Thranduil smiled contemptuously, "For you, its value is inestimable, I understand.
There are also jewels I want in the Lonely Mountain, white gems, as pure as starlight.
I will provide you with help."
"That's great." Bilbo said happily, "You let us go first, and we will give you the white gem after the adventure is over."
"Oh!" Thorin shook his head inappropriately, "I won't agree."
"Thorin." Aaron said a little tiredly, "The white gem is nothing to you, and it's no harm to give it to the King of the Woodland, right?"
"Don't you know the grudges between the dwarves and the wood elves?"
"Yes, we all know it.
But there is a saying that a smile can dispel old wishes, and a smile can end all grudges..."
Before Aaron finished speaking, he was interrupted by Thorin, "I'm not that generous."
"Okay." Aaron pursed his lips and forced a smile, "Then I'll change to a more realistic one.
We have no choice but to cooperate."
"Smart man, Thorin Oakenshield, you really should learn from them." Thranduil said lightly, "I promise you in the name of the king that as long as you return my things to me, I will let you go immediately.
In addition, I will provide you with enough help, weapons, food, and even guarantee that you will have no obstacles before reaching the Lonely Mountain."
Hearing this, Bilbo and Aaron's hearts beat uncontrollably.
This journey was too sad, either being hunted or on the way to being hunted, it would be great if they could relax a little.
"It sounds good and very tempting." Thorin smiled, then changed his tone and his face became heavy, "But I don't believe you, Thranduil.
The great king will keep his promise, even if the end comes."
"You." Thorin roared at Thranduil, "You have no credibility."
Legolas immediately drew out the beast bite sword and put it on Thorin's neck, "Watch your tone, dwarf."
"Legolas." Thranduil waved his hand, Legolas glared at Thorin fiercely and put the sword back.
"I witnessed you betraying your allies. We were starving and homeless, seeking your help, but you turned away.
You left my people alone and let them be destroyed." Thorin cursed viciously, "May you die in flames."
"Don't mention dragon flames to me." Thranduil suddenly walked up to Thorin, bent down and looked into his eyes, "I know its destructive power."
After the words fell, half of Thranduil's face became dry and festering, without a trace of blood.
Gulu! ×3.
"Father, you..." Legolas said in disbelief.
"I have faced the dragon of the north, and this is the price." Thranduil's face returned to normal, "I warned your grandfather about the consequences of his greed.
But he refused to listen, only knowing to guard his treasure, and was very stubborn to believe that the rule of the dwarves was indestructible.
You are exactly like him."
Thranduil waved his hand, and several elven guards came over and took them back to the cell.
"If you want, stay here until you rot!
For elves, a hundred years is just a moment.
I am very patient and I can wait."
"Wait." Aaron slapped the hand holding his arm and looked at Thranduil awkwardly but politely, "He is stubborn and it has nothing to do with us. Humans, hobbits and elves have no grudges."
"Yes, that's it." Bilbo added hurriedly, "We will try our best to convince Thorin."
"Go on." Thranduil was a little impatient, "I'm waiting for Oakenshield to change his mind."
"Wait." Aaron said again, "How about we change the deal?
Let us go, and I will help you heal half of your face."
"Are you serious?" Legolas was a little tempted, he naturally wanted his father to restore his appearance.
Thranduil looked at Aaron deeply, "Why should I believe you?
The damage caused by dragon flame cannot be cured. I have asked many people but they are powerless, and you are just a child."
"But he is not an ordinary child. Legolas should have mentioned me."
"So what?
Wizards may not know as many spells as elves, and it's not like I haven't asked wizards."
"There are still differences between wizards and sorcerers. Just because they can't do it doesn't mean I can't do it." Aaron said meaningfully, "Just tell me whether you agree to this deal or not."
Thranduil pondered for a moment, "If it's really as you said, it's not impossible to let you go..."
Just as Aaron breathed a sigh of relief, he heard the word "but", and the corners of his mouth twitched.
"But what?" Aaron asked nervously.
"But I can only release you and this hobbit." Thranduil sneered and touched his face, "If it were before, I would definitely be eager to agree to your conditions.
But after so long, I have become accustomed to this face. Appearance is far less important to me than the treasure of the elves."
Aaron smiled awkwardly, "I understand. I'll think about it."
The elf guards took the three people back to the cell, but they were much more polite to Aaron and Bilbo. After all, these two might become the king's benefactors, and it was not shameful for them to be polite.
Bang!
The door of the cell was closed again, and everything seemed to have not changed.
"Did he make conditions with you?" Balin asked anxiously.
"Yes," said Thorin, "I told him to wait for me to spit on his grave."
"Forget it," Aaron said speechlessly, "Elves can live longer than you. Even if towering trees or even a forest grow on your grave, he won't have a single wrinkle.
I'm not saying anything bad about you, but do you know what it means that the situation is stronger than you? Can't you put down your damn pride occasionally?"
"That's right." Bilbo agreed, "Thorin, we are prisoners now."
"You don't?" Thorin said sarcastically, "Humans and Hobbits have other ways to leave this cage, don't they?"
Bilbo was stunned for a moment, turned his head and looked at Aaron, "Do you really have a way to heal his face?"
Aaron sighed heavily and nodded slowly.
He had two bottles of powerful potions in his hand. Both the Moon Drop and the Resurrection Potion could heal Thranduil's face.
But using the latter would be a shameful waste. If part of the potion was consumed, it could only be used as a life potion.
It is better to use the Moon Drop to remove the sequelae of the dragon flame, and then combine it with some magic potions to make a long-term treatment.
"I advise you not to do that?" Thorin said, "or you should be prepared for him not to keep his promise."
"I know my limits, because my trading partner is not Thranduil." Aaron yawned and leaned against the wall bored, "If I am not mistaken, someone will come to me soon."
"Legolas?" Bilbo suddenly thought of something, "If it is him, it may work."
Thorin heard this and remained silent.
He did not trust Thranduil at all, but he had a little confidence in his son, although not much.
"But even so, he may not release all of us."
"We will go to Gandalf." Bilbo promised, "Maybe he will let you go after he negotiates with the King of the Woodland."
"You're overthinking." Aaron curled his lips, "Thrandil may give Gandalf face, but as long as the stubborn dwarf does not agree to hand over the white gem, he will never get out."
Bilbo glanced at Thorin through the cell door, then sighed, "Is there no other way to make him release Thorin?"
"Of course there is."
"What?" Bilbo opened his mouth in astonishment. He was about to say something when Aaron made a gesture to silence him and immediately shut his mouth.
Legolas slowly walked down the stairs and came to Aaron.
"Can you really heal my father's face?"
"Yes, but to what extent you can heal depends on your sincerity." Aaron looked at the other cells, and his meaning was quite obvious.
Although it was somewhat unkind to take advantage of others' filial piety, he had no choice in the current situation.
"No." Legolas shook his head gently, "I know what you think, but you should also understand my difficulties.
Our king is very eager for the white gem, and I can't let the dwarves out privately."
Aaron rolled his eyes. Although he guessed the result, he was still a little disappointed.
"Okay! Then give me back my wand."
"This won't work either." Legolas chuckled and took out two wands, one black and one white, from his back, "Do you think I would be stupid enough to give you the power to escape from prison?"
"That... if possible, can you give me back my sword?" Bilbo interrupted.
"Do you think he will return the weapon to the prisoner?" Aaron smiled bitterly, "Impossible."
"That's fine." Legolas threw Sting directly into the cell.
"Thank you." Bilbo drew out his dagger and breathed a sigh of relief.
This is his first and only weapon. It has been with him for a long time and is of great significance.
Aaron was stunned. What does that mean? Hit me in the face?
Legolas seemed to have noticed the resentment in Aaron's eyes and explained, "He is very weak, so it doesn't matter if you give him the sword."
Bilbo:......
Although this is true, can you please not say it in front of me? It hurts my self-esteem.
