The Days of Hanging Out at Hogwarts

Chapter 45 Potions

Wednesday, October 23.

This is the day when first graders use telescopes to observe the stars and learn the names of different stars and the paths of the planets. It is said that many magics are related to the stars.

Loren noticed that today's moon was just after full moon, with some inconspicuous defects.

Last night was a day with a full moon. Grandpa Bates should have tried wolfsbane potion, but I don't know how effective it was.

Loren looked at the bright light of Mars, thinking about Grandpa Bates, and planned to write a letter to him. Grandpa Bates couldn't take the initiative to contact Loren. He always had to wait until he wrote before he could reply.

Hermione also noticed the moon today. She came close to Loren and patted his arm gently without saying anything.

A warm current surged through Loren's heart. He raised his head and smiled at Hermione: "The Wolfsbane potion has been sent to Hanhan. Grandpa Bates shouldn't be too sad last night."

Last time at the clock tower, Loren talked about the Wolfsbane potion.

Although Loren seemed fine, Hermione stayed with him and didn't mention the werewolf. Just talk about the moon after the full moon is also beautiful, talk about the light of Mars...

When returning to the lounge, a group of people met Professor Quirrell.

The smell of fermented garlic grew stronger as time passed, and Quirrell could smell it from across the corridor, as could Loren and the others.

The students slowed down and planned to wait for Professor Quirrell to leave this floor before passing through the corridor.

The two brothers, George and Fred, followed Professor Quirrell sneakily, eager to try on his scarf, but they followed him all the way until Quirrell went upstairs, and the twins had no chance.

Loren and the others had encountered this kind of scene many times, and everyone was looking forward to the twins being able to embarrass Quirrell.

There was no one sitting in the front row of Defense Against the Dark Arts class now.

Last time Hufflepuff's Hannah Abbott was unlucky enough to arrive late and sit in the front row. She couldn't walk right after class and was sent to the school doctor's office with a pale face.

Although Madam Pomfrey said that she had eaten something wrong the day before, everyone believed that Professor Quirrell was the main reason.

Seamus agrees very much, "If I hadn't been physically strong, I would have been in the school infirmary last time."

Ron analyzed it and found that as Professor Quirrell's smell became more intense, no one would be allowed to sit in the second row in the future.

"Let's see, one day Quirrell will send all the students to the school doctor's office." Ron said.

From then on, everyone would go to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom an hour early. The unlucky ones who didn't get a seat were either squeezed into the back row or went straight to the school doctor's office pretending to be sick.

Percy was hesitant about whether to report this to Professor McGonagall. He believed that as a student, he should not criticize the professor, and ultimately chose not to do anything. The twins said that sooner or later, they would get Percy in the front row and get close to Quirrell.

Things just kept dragging on.

The twin brothers were very disappointed when they saw Quirrell escaping from their ambush range. Each of them said:

"Soldier Fred, once again we have let go of a serious threat!"

"Yes, Chief George!"

Then a chorus of "I've got another great idea!"

Loren and the others saw the twins cheering up again and walking away laughing.

Hermione noticed some details, "Have you noticed that Professor Quirrell's face seems paler."

Ron laughed so hard that his eyebrows flew up, "A vampire must have found him and sucked his blood!"

Harry also smiled and added: "So he fermented more garlic in his scarf, hoping to drive away vampires."

"Hahahahaha!" The classmates around were all amused by this joke.

Seamus questioned: "But vampires in the magical world are not afraid of garlic."

Ron quickly thought of another possibility, "He plans to marinate himself to make the vampire so disgusted that he doesn't want to suck his blood!"

Everyone was amused again, and even Hermione was diverted.

Loren laughed while recalling the plot. It was Voldemort and Quirrell who couldn't hold on any longer. Thinking about it, they were about to go to the Forbidden Forest to hunt for blood.

Loren planned to remind Hagrid.

During lunch on Friday, Loren received a reply from Grandpa Bates.

The letter said that although he would still be weak for a while after the transformation, he could indeed control his body and not hurt others even if he didn't go to the cave or lock himself up.

Grandpa Bates plans to start traveling and visit his hometown, and then maybe visit other old places in his memory.

At the end of the letter, he questioned Loren. He suspected that Loren had deliberately put something into the medicine, which made it so painful that even a seventy or eighty-year-old man could not bear it. Adding the sentence that sugar must not be added, it seemed more like A prank was played.

"You'd better pray I don't catch you, or grandpa will squeeze the sheep's bile out of your mouth."

Loren smiled at Grandpa Bates' childish words. It seemed that the Wolfsbane potion really made him relax a lot.

Loren was very supportive of Grandpa Bates going on a trip. The werewolf problem had trapped him in the mountains for decades, and it was a good thing to be freed and able to travel around.

In the evening, it was completely different from before. This time Loren came to Snape's office in a happy mood.

"Come in."

Once again, Loren was noticed without knocking. He suspected that wizards of a certain level would have extraordinary perceptions.

Snape wasn't marking homework, he was replying to a letter.

Loren sat across from Snape, with a graded paper already on the table. It's the one-foot article that Loren submitted last time. Although it has lost some words, the main points are still extracted by Loren combined with Snape's teachings, and it is not written according to the script.

The annotations above are very detailed, and Loren benefited a lot from reading them word for word.

One person writes letters, another person reads papers, and the office falls into a harmonious calm.

Loren had accepted Snape, putting aside the grievances and grudges from decades ago, putting aside the matters of Voldemort and Death Eaters, he was a qualified potions professor.

When Snape put the letter into the envelope, Loren also put down the paper and immediately expressed his gratitude to Professor Snape and told about Bates's good condition.

Snape did not reply immediately. He looked at Loren, his eyes still calm, but without the sense of spying of a cold-blooded animal.

"Potion, a great subject. Lucky people can glimpse glory, immortality, and rejuvenation. You happen to have a little talent."

“Walk this road with reverence, it’s all for yourself.”

Loren felt that Snape was saying something specious again, but his tone made people think.

Voldemort chose Horcruxes, and Nico Flamel used the Philosopher's Stone. Does potion really have a path to the ultimate secret?

Before Loren could think about it, Snape started today's teaching.
