Chapter 698 German-Equipped Division
First, help China build a military industry!
Second, before China's military industry is built, it can provide military equipment to China!
Under Hitler's order, the fourth German military adviser, the most famous one, came to China.
His name is Seeckt, the former commander-in-chief of the German Wehrmacht, with the rank of general.
Therefore, among all the German military advisers, Seeckt was the most valued by Jiang Jieshi, with the highest treatment and status.
He could even issue direct instructions to various government departments as the "chairman's agent"!
In fact, Chen Cheng's mission was related to Seeckt.
In terms of assisting China in military reorganization and building the army, Seeckt submitted the "Army Reform Proposal" to Jiang Jieshi.
Seeckt said that China had limited material and financial resources, and should first train a divisional force, and then complete the reorganization of 60 divisions across the country in batches and phases.
He believed that with such an elite standing army of 60 divisions, it would be enough to cope with various situations.
In terms of light weapons, his suggestion was this.
The rifle should use the Chinese version of the Mauser rifle, that is, the Zhongzheng rifle.
Of course, considering the weak national strength of China, Seckt suggested that, if necessary, the old Hanyang rifle could be used instead.
The light machine gun should use the Czech ZB26, also using the Chinese version.
It is worth mentioning that because China's industry is backward and the logistics support cannot keep up, Seckt does not recommend that Chinese troops use the MG34, a big killer.
Although this big killer is powerful and can be used for both light and heavy, it consumes too much bullets, and it is not recommended for China to copy and produce it.
Seckt suggested that in terms of the number of light machine guns, one per squad should be used.
For pistols, Seckt recommended the use of box guns, also called Mauser guns, twenty shots, etc.
However, Seckt suggested that the original German goods should be used as much as possible.
In terms of heavy weapons, Seckt also made many very constructive suggestions.
He suggested that the heavy machine gun should use the Maxim 24-type water-cooled heavy machine gun.
In 1934, the German Ordnance Department provided China with a full set of Maxim heavy machine gun manufacturing drawings for free.
It uses a 250-round canvas belt to feed ammunition, which has a crushing advantage over the Japanese Type 92 heavy machine gun.
The reason is simple. The Type 92 heavy machine gun can only use a 30-round feed plate.
Even if two feed plates are connected together, there are only 60 rounds of bullets.
The firepower is not sustained, and the power is naturally different.
Seckt suggested that each infantry battalion should have a heavy machine gun company, with a total of 3 platoons and 6 heavy machine guns.
In fact, this configuration standard is only equivalent to half of the standard infantry battalion of the German Army.
In terms of the most critical artillery, Seckt said that he was a little powerless.
Cannons are indispensable weapons and equipment for modern armies. Unfortunately, due to technical and financial limitations, China does not have the capital to equip too many.
Even the so-called most modern German-equipped division has a huge gap with the German army in this regard.
Except for the teaching corps, which has an independent direct artillery regiment, other German-style divisions do not have such an organization.
Even the 36th, 87th, and 88th divisions only have one divisional artillery battalion.
In fact, Seckt's suggestion is that each division should have an artillery regiment with three battalions.
In addition, there is also a need for an anti-tank gun company and an anti-aircraft gun company.
The artillery battalion has three howitzer companies, each equipped with four German 75mm Krupp mountain guns, or 75mm Bofors mountain guns, a total of 12 guns.
The anti-tank gun company is equipped with four German 37mm anti-tank guns.
The anti-aircraft gun company is equipped with six 20mm anti-aircraft guns.
In addition to the divisional artillery battalion, each infantry regiment should also have one mortar company and one small artillery company.
The mortar company is equipped with six French-style 81mm mortars, or 82mm mortars.
The small artillery company is equipped with six 20mm machine guns.
It was found that because China was too poor, the suggestion was difficult to implement. In desperation, Seckt had to find another way.
In order to make up for the lack of artillery fire, he suggested that a small number of large-caliber artillery be concentrated and organized into independent artillery brigades or artillery regiments, and unified deployment and use to achieve the purpose of supporting operations.
In fact, in the process of military reorganization, different names were given to each unit according to the adjustment speed, including reorganized divisions, adjustment divisions, reorganized divisions, and newly reorganized divisions.
According to Seckt's plan, only after all 60 divisions in the country were adjusted could they be called reorganized divisions.
The divisions whose German equipment had not yet been shipped to China and had not been replaced, but whose preliminary reorganization plans had been completed, were called adjustment divisions.
Below the adjustment divisions were reorganized divisions and newly reorganized divisions.
According to Chen Cheng, now the military reorganization plan has been carried out for two phases, with a total of 20 divisions, and the third phase of 10 divisions is underway.
In fact, among the 20 divisions that have completed the military reorganization, the degree of training they received with German equipment and German advisers is also different.
The only troops that received systematic training and guidance from German advisors were the following divisions: the 3rd, 6th, 9th, 14th, 36th, 87th, 88th and the teaching corps, as well as the tax police corps that did not belong to the regular army system.
These 30 divisions basically received some German equipment, and several of them were almost fully equipped with German equipment and received systematic training from German advisors.
Among all the troops, the four troops that received the most guidance from German advisers, had the most complete German-style equipment and the most adequate training were the Teaching Corps, the 36th Division, the 87th Division and the 88th Division.
In fact, the 36th Division, the 87th Division and the 88th Division are brothers of the same lineage.
They neither belong to the 1st Army system of Hu Zongnan, nor to the 13th Army system of Tang Enbo, nor to the civil engineering system of Chen Cheng.
The predecessors of these three troops were the guard troops of Jiang Jieshi, the direct line of the direct line.
In fact, the fifth German general adviser, General Falkenhaus, also put forward a more effective suggestion.
In the German-style division, on the basis of the division communication battalion, a radio communication platoon should be set up.
Each infantry regiment headquarters should establish a radio communication class.
In this way, the division and regiment levels can maintain smooth communication, thereby enhancing the level of command and dispatch, and ultimately improving combat effectiveness.
There is no doubt that the existence of these 30 divisions marks the emergence of the most modern army in modern history.
During the war, these German-style divisions played a pivotal role, and of course they also made great sacrifices.
In fact, before traveling through time, when studying the history of the war, especially when studying these German-equipped divisions, Ye Tian sighed again and again.
Damn it!
If the full-scale war of resistance broke out a year later, and more German-equipped divisions appeared in China, the situation of the war would definitely change dramatically!
Of course, Ye Tian knew that this information was top secret.
If someone respects me one foot, I will respect him one foot.
Ye Tian decided that when he visited Germany, he must create results that would satisfy Jiang Jieshi and Chen Cheng.
