Chapter 31 Internal Obstacles
In the quiet night, Boris and a few others were sweating profusely in the corner digging. Father Petrov walked up to Seryozha, handed him a bottle of beer and said, "Use this kind of dead money to help those in need. You finally did a good job!"
"Actually, for my own sake, the establishment of a mutual aid association can get more personal accounts and information, which is convenient for us to expand our business!" Sergey Sha replied.
"But you still helped those in need, didn't you?" After finishing his speech, Petrov's father picked up a case of beer and walked towards Yuri and the others. Seryozha drank the beer in his hand.
The next morning, several secretaries of the Communist Youth League who hadn't shown up since Sergey took office filled Sergey's office early in the morning.
"Although you are the first secretary, you have to follow the procedures. For such a big matter as the establishment of a mutual aid association, how can you go your own way without discussing it with us?"
"That is, even if you are the first secretary, you can't act arbitrarily!"
...
The continuous noise made Sergey's head so dizzy. If Sergey hadn't been in the army, these excited main leaders of the regiment committee would probably have taken action directly. Among them, the second secretary of the Youth League Committee, Sergey Sha's deputy, and the two deputy secretaries were the happiest. Since Seryozha spent most of his days studying in Leningrad, the Gorky City Youth League Committee was actually manipulated by these three people. In their eyes, Seryozha was just responsible for stamping.
On weekdays, they engage in friendship for the members of the league, and they have no opinion at all about the sports meeting. These things are cumbersome and boring, and they don't care about letting Sergei enjoy being an official on this occasion, but the Mutual Aid Association is different. This is a brand new department that holds financial power. Unsurprisingly, the Mutual Aid Association will become the small treasury of the Gorky City Youth League Committee. Whoever controls this department will gain the financial power of the Youth League Committee, and no one will remain silent under this temptation.
"Nastya, please call a car for me. Let's go to the hospital to visit those in need." Seryozha acted as if these people did not exist, he ignored them at all and left the room directly.
"Secretary Ulyanov, what about the secretaries in your room?" Nastya asked embarrassingly.
"Whatever they are doing, I didn't invite them here, tell them I won't be coming back today?" Seryosha walked out without looking back after finishing speaking, and got into his special car.
"Secretary, where are you going?" the driver Ivan asked.
"City Children's Hospital!" Seryozha ordered.
Without further ado, Ivan started the car,
The car drove for a while, and halfway through the car, Seryozha saw through the car window that he was passing a state-run store. Then he remembered that it was not suitable for him to go empty-handed, and he wanted to buy some gifts anyway.
"Stop by the side of the road, I'm going in to buy some gifts for the patient." Said aloud.
"Secretary, I suggest you don't go to the store, there is nothing to buy there." The driver Ivan said. As the secretary's full-time driver, Ivan has already regarded himself as one of Sergei's own people. In addition to some things about business that are inconvenient for Sergey Sha to tell him, the two of them also exchanged some things about life and work on weekdays. For example, Seryozha knew that Ivan planned to get married next year, and his fiancée was a worker in a textile factory.
"Would you believe me if I said that I haven't been in a store for almost two years?" Seryozha said to Ivan.
"No way! Don't you, like us, also go to the black market to buy things?" Ivan asked in surprise.
"Let me go and have a look!" At Sergey's request, Ivan stopped the car. Seryozha walked into the store, and there were a lot of goods in it. Seryozha walked to the food counter, pointed to a fruit cake and said, "Please wrap it for me!"
"Sorry sir, this cake is sold out!" replied the salesperson.
"Then what's the one at the counter?" Seryozha asked knowingly.
"This is a display for customers. If it is sold to you, other customers will not know what this cake looks like!" The salesperson replied.
Sergey turned around in disappointment and was about to leave, but was stopped by the salesperson. She said quietly to Sergey: "Sir, if you really want to buy, you can go to the black market, there must be something for sale there!"
Seryozha replied dumbfoundedly: "Thank you!"
Leaving the shop, Seryozha told Ivan what had happened in the shop, and Ivan also smiled. Seryozha picked up the car phone in the car, called his father and asked him to make a fruit cake, explaining that it was for the sick girl, and his father readily agreed.
Seryozha called Yakov again and asked him to buy some gifts that children like and send them to his father. With such an arrangement, Seryozha had to postpone the morning visit to the afternoon.
Seryozha asked Ivan to take him home first, and left him to have lunch at home, and went to the hospital together in the afternoon. Ivan agreed after some refusals, and the car drove to Seryozha's villa in the suburbs.
On the way, Seryozha suddenly received a call from his secretary, Nastya. Na Sijia said anxiously on the phone: "The secretary is not good. The other three secretaries are going to the municipal party committee to complain to you. You should come back and deal with it first!"
"Don't worry about them! I have to go to see the sick girl in the afternoon, and I don't have time to take care of their affairs. Do you want to go together?" Seryozha said calmly.
"But... good secretary!" Nastya wanted to remind Seryozha on the other end of the phone to pay attention to this matter, but when he thought that Seryozha was a Hero of the Soviet Union personally awarded by President Bo, he didn't say any more. Say what.
At lunch, Ivan ate the old man's cooking for the first time, and he was full of praise immediately. Because they had to go to the hospital to visit patients in the afternoon, Seriosha and the others did not drink alcohol, so as not to give people a bad impression by smelling of alcohol.
After lunch, Seryozha took the cake that his father had just baked and the gift from Yakov to the hospital. First of all, thanks to Liaosha, Nastya, who arrived in one step, was already waiting outside the ward.
When Seryozha entered the ward, the little girl's parents immediately stood up to greet her. Seryozha shook hands with them and brought presents and cakes.
"Secretary Ulyanov, thank you for your concern for us..." The host who spoke had only one hand and looked a little dull. Seryosha walked out of the room after chatting with him a few words. Seryozha did not bother the sick little girl, he just glanced at it from a distance. Seryozha called Nastya aside and handed her a thick wad of money. Nastya was taken aback, and Seryozha explained: "It is my kindness to pass it on to the hostess for me. I don't think they can wait until the mutual aid society is formed."
"Secretary, the Mutual Aid Association is a great thing, do you want to give it up?" Nastia asked worriedly.
"No, I think I have to rectify our Youth League Committee!" Sergey Sha replied. (To be continued.)
