Chapter 451 Nanoscale Calibration (Part 2)

No one would refuse Guo Tailai's reasonable request. In fact, even the vice president of Mercedes-Benz just wanted to establish a cooperation first, but the specific cooperation conditions still need further negotiations.

Guo Tailai made it very fast, at least in the eyes of those Mercedes-Benz engineers, the speed of making workpieces is simply amazing.

There is no way, Guo Tailai is purely handmade, as long as you look at the drawings, you can get started directly. Unlike the CNC machining center, even if the drawing is input, the specific process and operation need to be further set. This setting alone will take a long time.

Although the efficiency of large-scale processing of fully automatic CNC machining centers is amazing, in fact, if the process is not sure and only the drawings are input, the machining center may not even be able to move the knife. Even some simple drawings can realize automatic setting process, but complex accessories absolutely require manual intervention.

This is also one of the reasons why some manufacturers obviously have good equipment, but they may not be able to process high-quality workpieces quickly and well. Operators are not proficient in these settings, or setting errors are all influencing factors. For example, it is clear that the cutting tool can be cut 10 mm at a time, but the operator is afraid of damaging the machine, so if he sets it at 5 mm, he has to move the knife twice, and the time efficiency will naturally decrease.

Of course, with the development of technology, according to the workpiece material and the setting of the machining center, the parameters of the maximum cutting amount can also be intelligently given, and similar processing procedures can also be intelligently set. Unfortunately, that is the future, and it is far from being done now. to this point.

Therefore, in the processing of one or two workpieces, even if it has the most advanced CNC machining center, it may not be able to compare with Guo Tailai alone in terms of processing speed. The efficiency of a single person is far inferior to that of Guo Tailai.

Seeing the titanium alloy parts being taken out of the clean room one by one, the engineers of Mercedes-Benz couldn't bear it, wishing to stay beside Guo Tailai and observe how Guo Tailai processed this difficult-to-machine alloy. It's a pity that Huang Weiguo and the three of them guarded the door very responsibly, and none of them could cross the threshold.

Although many people know that Guo Tailai actually uses hand tools to grind and process bit by bit, but why can Guo Tailai achieve such precision? Always a mystery, unexplainable. Is it a bit too exaggerated to manually cut titanium alloy? How much strength does that require? How much stamina is needed? Guo Tailai obviously has no obligation to explain, but is just making parts one by one quickly.

But it didn't take long for curious engineers to learn just how much strength and stamina would be required. When Guo Tailai came out with two sets of outrageously worn tools and asked for replacements, it was already after he had been working in it for ten hours.

During the ten hours, Guo Tailai had been working all the time except for one meal, and he didn't even delay his work by drinking water, which was unbelievable.

Fortunately, Mercedes-Benz had anticipated this situation long ago, and quickly replaced two sets of tools. These tools are severely worn, especially those responsible for the final polishing part, and even the sand surface on them is almost worn out. The cutting edge of the shovel blade is severely worn, and it will not work unless it is replaced.

In three full days, Guo Tailai had completely completed the fabrication of all the titanium alloy parts. This has already amazed the engineers of Mercedes-Benz, it is titanium alloy! Still such a high precision. Don't look at the former Soviet Union in the United States who used titanium alloys to play with airplanes and submarines. Let them compare the processing accuracy? Guo Tailai's casual connecting rod can kill them in seconds.

The industrial laboratory has already been contacted, just waiting for Guo Tailai and the others to bring the workpiece over. What people on the Mercedes-Benz side don't understand is that if Guo Tailai just wanted to know how high-precision the workpiece he made, he didn't have to go there at all, just let the other side measure it and send the result over, but Guo Tailai wanted to go over and stare at it. Look.

Perhaps a quirk of the master craftsman! Only by looking at the measurement can you know it in your heart. Anyway, the people in the laboratory operate the measuring equipment by themselves. No matter how much Guo Tailai looks at it, he is just looking at a reading. It will not cause leaks to the production process. The Germans showed the greatest tolerance in dealing with the small demands of a master craftsman.

For every workpiece to be measured, Mercedes-Benz first wraps it with the best soft film material, and then places it in the gap of a suitable shockproof material and fixes it, and then puts it into several Pelican safety boxes. Among them, it can be guaranteed that no collision damage will be caused by bumps during the rush.

The car headed south all the way to Munich. That industrial laboratory is in Munich, which happens to be where BMW's headquarters are. On the way, Guo Tailai also joked with people from Mercedes-Benz and McLaren that maybe he will build a monster motorcycle next time, and maybe he can cooperate with BMW.

Both Mercedes-Benz and McLaren have no motorcycle business at present. Guo Tailai did not arouse the disgust of both parties when he mentioned this. The manager of Mercedes-Benz even laughed and said that he could help introduce the business manager of BMW motorcycles.

In the industrial laboratory, Guo Tailai saw for the first time the measuring instrument with the highest precision in the world, a certain type of laser interferometer. A laser interferometer is an instrument that uses wavelength as a standard to measure the measured length. The data can be read out by interfering with the magnified pattern, which can be accurate to the nanometer level.

Guo Tailai is very disciplined, sitting three meters directly opposite the laser interferometer, watching the laboratory staff operate the interferometer for measurement.

"Calibrated 360-degree field of view 3D measurement mechanism."

"Start calibration, please specify reference object."

...

As the readings were read out and recorded one by one, Guo Tailai’s 360-degree field of view 3D measurement was also in the process of continuous calibration. This measurement calibration lasted for a full day and a half before the dimensions of the workpieces that Guo Tailai wanted to measure The measurement was completed, and Guo Tailai's measurement mechanism was completely calibrated after one day.

The measurement mechanism of the 360-degree field of view has been accurate to 5 nanometers, which is 0.005 microns. The Pentium 3 processor launched in January this year uses a 0.25-micron process technology, that is, 250 nanometers. You can imagine how high the measurement accuracy is.

"The cutting precision of nanorobots is enhanced to 50 nanometers."

"The welding precision of nanorobots is enhanced to 50 nanometers."

"The surface roughness of nanorobots is enhanced to below 5 nanometers."

Three consecutive reminders made Guo Tailai completely happy. All the enhanced functions brought about by the last system upgrade have been activated. Now Guo Tailai's processing accuracy can reach 50 nanometers, which is 0.05 microns.
