Chapter 896 Rescue
Exit the dormitory and follow the spiral staircase into the common room past the portraits and exit along the moonlit Fat Lady corridor. Harry seemed to feel that the fear in his heart might explode at any time.
He wanted to run away and tell Dumbledore that Mr. Weasley was bleeding while they strolled so calmly, and that if something happened to Mr. Weasley... the blood was splattered on the top of the mask...
His bright eyes looked them up and down and hissed faintly as they passed Mrs. Norris.
Professor McGonagall said "Shh!" Mrs. Norris scurried into the shadows and fled. After a few minutes they arrived at the door of Dumbledore's office, guarded by a stone monster.
"Fizzinghizzbee!" said Professor McGonagall.
The monster came alive and jumped to the side. The wall cracked open on both sides, and a spiral stone staircase moving upward appeared. As the four of them stepped onto the moving staircase, the wall slammed shut behind them.
They moved up the narrow passage and finally came to an ornate oak door decorated with brass animal heads. Although it was well past midnight, there was still chatter in the room that sounded like Dumbledore had at least a dozen guests.
Professor McGonagall held the animal head door knocker and tapped it three times. The sound inside suddenly became quiet.
The door opened automatically and Professor McGonagall walked in first, followed by Fan Lin who helped Harry in.
The room was half-dark, and all kinds of strange silver instruments were sitting quietly on the table instead of flying around and emitting bursts of smoke as usual. The portraits of the old principal and the headmistress were all taking a nap in the frames on the wall. Next to the door, a huge bird with magnificent red and yellow feathers rested its head on a perch under its wings and dozed.
It still looks the same. This is the second time Fan Lin has come to the office this semester. It seems that Umbridge's matter really doesn't matter...
"Oh, it's you, Professor McGonagall, and..." Dumbledore was sitting in a high-backed chair behind his desk; he leaned over until a document was placed in front of him in the flickering candlelight.
He was wearing a white pajamas and an embroidered purple and gold jacket, but he looked very awake. His light blue eyes were staring at Professor McGonagall.
"Professor Dumbledore Harry had a nightmare" said Professor McGonagall. "He told me."
"This is not a dream" Harry said quickly.
Professor McGonagall looked at Harry and frowned slightly.
"Very well then Harry please tell the Headmaster about it."
"I fell asleep" said Harry trying to make Dumbledore understand his terror and despair. He felt slightly irritated that the principal wasn't looking at him and instead was examining his fingers. "But this was no ordinary dream. It was real. I saw it happen." Harry took a deep breath. "Ron's dad... Mr. Weasley... was attacked with a wand."
The words seemed to be echoing in the air even after he had finished speaking, sounding a bit ridiculous, like comedy. Dumbledore paused, leaning back and staring at the ceiling. Fan Lin frowned slightly, but his expression was serious, as if he was thinking, while Ron's eyes wandered around Harry and Dumbledore, his face was pale and his whole body was shaking.
"How did you see it?" Dumbledore asked calmly without looking at Harry.
"I don't know" Harry said he was furious, what did it matter?
"In my mind, I think..." Dumbledore's tone was still very calm, "You misunderstood me."
Dumbledore said. "I mean do you remember... uh... where you were standing when you saw the attacker? Were you probably standing next to the victim or looking down from above the scene?"
The question was so odd that Harry glared at Dumbledore as if he knew.
"I'm a spectator..." Harry said. "I saw things from the perspective of darkness."
"Bystander? The attacker came out from behind you?"
"Yes..." Harry looked at Fan Lin in surprise, "But..."
"Where?" Dumbledore asked.
"I don't know. I only saw black floor tiles and a lot of crystal balls."
No one spoke, and more, what appeared on Fan Lin's face was confusion...
Bystander, so, who would Harry be without Nagini?
"Is Arthur seriously injured?"
"Yes" Harry emphasized!
But the anger that followed filled Harry's mind. Why couldn't Dumbledore look at him for polite reasons?
But Dumbledore stood up suddenly, so quickly that Harry jumped.
"Evra?" Dumbledore said quickly. "And Delis." The male wizard with short black hair and yellow face and the old witch with silver curls stood in the frame next to him. They opened their eyes as if they had woken up from the deepest sleep.
"Are you listening?" said Dumbledore. The wizard nodded and the witch said, "Of course."
"Arthur should be on duty tonight, the Weasley family..." Dumbledore said. "Evrard you alert to make sure someone reliable finds him..."
"And Delise, you go to St. Mungo's Magic Hospital. I think we need to be prepared!"
The two nodded and left the original frame. He does not appear in adjacent photos but disappears. The only thing left in the background of the two frames is black curtains and a beautiful leather armchair.
Harry noticed that on most of the other walls the Headmaster and Madam seemed convincingly snoring and drooling but looking at him from under their noses. He suddenly guessed who had been talking when they had knocked on the door.
"Evra and Doris are the most famous headmasters of Hogwarts," Dumbledore said. He glanced at Verlin, Harry, Ron and Professor McGonagall. They were standing by the door next to a sleeping bird. magnificent bird on the tree.
"They are so famous that their portraits hang in many other important wizarding institutions. So they are free to move between their own portraits to tell us what is going on elsewhere."
"But Mr. Weasley could be anywhere!" said Harry.
"You three, please sit down," Dumbledore said, ignoring what Harry said. "Evra and Doris may not be back soon. Professor McGonagall asked you to change a few more chairs."
Professor McGonagall took her wand from her robe pocket and waved four wooden straight-backed chairs into the air. They were somewhat different from the comfortable chintz armchairs Dumbledore had conjured up during Harry's hearing.
Harry sat down and looked over the back of his chair at Dumbledore. Dumbledore stroked Fawkes' golden head with one finger. Fox woke up immediately. It raised its beautiful head and stared at Dumbledore with bright, dark eyes.
"We need a warning," Dumbledore whispered to the bird. (To be continued)
