Chapter 541: Opening of the Tournament
0 minutes into the banquet, Hagrid squeezed in from the door behind the staff table and slid to his seat at the end.
He waved his heavily bandaged hand to Harry, Ron, Vanlin and Hermione.
"The skrewts did well, didn't they, Hagrid?" Harry shouted.
"Excellent!" Hagrid replied happily.
"Yeah, I told you they'd be great," Ron said calmly, "It looks like he finally found something they like, didn't he? Fingers."
Then a voice rang out, "Excuse me, do you still want this fish soup?"
She had a pair of big deep blue eyes and a mouthful of white, neat teeth. Her long blond hair was extremely charming.
Vanlin was speechless, he knew this guy would come and make trouble.
The girl looked at them, she had taken off her face towel, which Vanlin hadn't noticed before.
Ron's face flushed, he looked up at her, opened his mouth to answer, but except for the vague gurgling sound, he couldn't say a word.
"Oh, take it," Harry said, pushing the dish to the girl.
"Have you eaten yet?"
"Yes," Ron almost gasped, "Yes, it tastes great."
"Is the food at Hogwarts not very appetizing to you?" asked Vanlin, his tone not very good.
"Oh, of course." The girl smiled, and the whole world suddenly became much brighter.
It was a tingling sound, and this sound was so familiar.
Vanlin put the plate in the girl's hand.
The girl said nothing, she just blinked, and then she looked at Hermione next to Vanlin.
The girl picked up the plate and walked carefully towards the Ravenclaw table. Ron was still staring at the girl, as if he had never seen a woman before. Harry laughed, and this laugh woke Ron up and brought him back to his senses.
Harry felt that the girl looked familiar, and if Sirius was here, he would definitely tell Harry.
However, it seemed that asking Vanlin would also be okay.
Ron was completely immersed in the girl's back, unable to extricate himself.
Then Ron said in a voice that was almost dry and hoarse: "It feels like the whole world is lit up."
Harry nodded, he was naturally attracted.
Fanlin was a little depressed, and he focused his attention on the food in front of him.
Although he had prepared himself early, the people from Beauxbatons had just arrived.
"At least I didn't see that idiot staring at her." Hermione said with some atmosphere, as if complaining that her two friends were not up to the task, "You should learn from Fanlin, at least he didn't look at her."
But what she said was not entirely correct. When the girl walked through the hall. Many boys looked back at her. Some were as stunned as Ron.
"I tell you, that is definitely not an ordinary girl!" Ron leaned to the side to see her clearly, "I haven't seen that girl make them like this in Hogwarts!"
"In Hogwarts, she makes everything normal for them." Harry said without thinking.
They happened to be sitting not far from the girl with bright hair.
"Who is that girl?" Ron said.
"Fanlin, do you know her?"
"No, I don't." Fanlin answered without thinking, "No doubt, she is an exchange student from Beauxbatons?"
"When you were in Beauxbatons, didn't you..." Ron wanted to ask more, but Hermione stopped him.
"Wait until you two look away," Hermione said quickly, "you will find out who has arrived."
She pointed to the staff seat. The two empty seats were already occupied. Ruth Bagmont sat next to Professor Karkaroff, and Percy's boss Mr. Crouch sat next to Madam Maxime.
Now everyone is here.
Fanlin naturally set his eyes on Crouch's face, as if he wanted to see something.
And Bagmont naturally felt Fanlin's gaze, and he dodged unconsciously.
Fanlin found it a little funny that an official of the Ministry of Magic would avoid the gaze of a little wizard.
Just because of those gold galleons?
However, Fanlin was not worried that Bagmon would deny it. The contract had been modified. If Bagmon dared to violate it...
He should not be so stupid as to be targeted by a powerful little wizard...
"What are they doing here?" Harry was surprised.
"They organized the Triwizard Tournament, didn't they?" Hermione said, "I think they came to see the opening of the competition."
The second dish came up, and they also noticed a lot of strange puddings.
Ron carefully observed a pale milk jelly pudding, and then carefully moved it a few inches to the right, where it could be clearly seen even from the table of Wei Wencaro.
It's a pity that the Veela girl seemed to be full and didn't come to take it.
After the dishes on the golden plate were swept away, Dumbledore stood up again. The hall was filled with a pleasant tension. Everyone was trembling with excitement, thinking about what would happen next.
Not far from them, Fred and George leaned forward and stared at Dumbledore intently.
"The moment has come," said Dumbledore, smiling into the sea of faces. "The Triwizard Tournament is about to begin. Before we bring in the jewel box, I want to say a few words."
"What?" Harry muttered.
Ron shrugged.
"Just explaining the steps we've taken this year. Let me start by introducing them to those of you who don't know them: Mr. Bardy Crouch, Head of International Magical Cooperation. (There is a sparse polite applause) This is Mr. Ruth Bagmont, Head of Magical Games and Sports."
Bagmont got more applause than Crouch, perhaps because of his reputation as a chaser, or maybe just because he was more likeable. He waved a cheerful thank you.
Bardy Crouch, on the other hand, didn't smile or wave when his name was announced.
Harry remembered how well-dressed he had been at the Quidditch World Cup, and thought he looked odd in his wizard robes.
His toothbrush-like beard and sharp hairline looked very strange compared to Dumbledore's long hair and beard.
"In the past few months, Mr. Bagman and Mr. Crouch have worked tirelessly to prepare for the Triwizard Tournament." Dumbledore continued, "They will form a panel with me, Professor Karkaroff and Madame Maxime to judge the contestants' efforts."
When it comes to contestants, the students prick up their ears
"We will judge each contestant impartially and make the most reasonable judgment until the end of the Triwizard Tournament." (To be continued)
